Value! Gravetroll + Stinkweed are there for dredging. Life from the loam returns your lands AND dredges. This means, they sometimes allow a turn 3 win! Lightning axe and faithless looting also are great discard sources with great benefits. They allow you to discard a card from your hand (to get those dredge mechanics, put your win conditions into your graveyards) and then ramp you mana off of that.
Your two mana ramps PLUS an awesome discard mechanic are greenseeker and llanowar mentor. The land base isn't the best, but by running these lands I save lots of money. At least ONE white source in order to get your win condition off.
